Yaadein - what we think.

Where is all this publicity for the film coming from? What are the critics doing backing this low quality, poorly acted and directed film with no script behind it?

The film is the low point in Subhash Ghai's career and I believe that the 'Showman' has lost his touch. The film lacks any of the qualities of a Subhash Ghai production. The films from this house used to be good entertainers, but this one makes a mockery of the public's intelligence - "See I have managed to pull you into the cinema to watch my third rate film just because it says 'A Subhash Ghai Film' on it".

The acting is so appalling that an amateur theatre production by 10 year olds would put this to shame. The script lacks any substance or direction, songs appear out of nowhere and have no relevance to the theme. The make up is so poor that you can see the 'wig lines' of Amrish Puri's horrid 'ginger' head and facial hair. The scene where Rati Agnihotri is killed in a cross-fire between the police and some 'mugger/car-thief...' on a London street seems so unreal. Have you ever heard of the Metropolitan police firing shots in a busy street, albeit to catch a criminal (especially in the current environment of public outrage over the armed police!)? A load of exotic locations and beautiful scenery alone cannot make a good film.

Scenes have been so haphazardly put together to make me wonder if a trainee Editor was used with no supervision and the final product was never checked before putting it out to the public. The film has so much blatant advertising of products that it appears to be a 3 hour long commercial for many food products, a bicycle manufacturer and lots of websites. The computer graphics are so tacky and amatuerish. The dialogue in so many scenes was so poor that it appears that Subhash Ghai treats his audience (us viewers) as totally devoid of any intelligence and he needs to 'preach us' on all aspects of life. How real is the scene of a group of young (teen and early twenties) British-Asian girls singing a traditional punjabi wedding song in a very deep rural punjabi accent and language?

I am struggling to find the positive side to the film. There was not much for Hrithik and Kareena to do with such a lack-lustre script. By the way, these were the only two who made any attempt at realistic performance in the film (the rest was like watching a bad pantomime!). Even these two did not have much to do with the poor script behind them.

The title song with Hrithik and Jackie is the only one worth mentioning, which was sung by Hariharan. Jackie, one of my favourite actors, disappointed me in this film with his over-acting. The only attraction for the Joe Bloggs is that this film is set in the UK and shows the 'problems' parents face in trying to bring up their teenage children with 'Asian values' in this country (only one scene!). The row of girls in front of me and I am sure many others came only to see Hrithik on the screen!

I'll think twice before I go to see the next Ghai film.
0 points, I am afraid for this film and Mr. Ghai, Can I have a refund of my ticket money, please?
