  • An anthology of new writing for young people released by Theatre Centre includes writing by Manjinder Virk. (Feb 2004)

In Production.

  • Toba Tek Singh 

    Dominic Rai (Manmela Theatre Company)
    is working on a project based on this short story written by Saddat Hasan Manto. The story is being adapted to theatre by Amarjit Chandan.

  • 'Salaam Afhanistan' is another project Dominic Rai (Manmela Theatre Company) is working on. The inspiration for the project came from the book BreadWinner by Debra Ellis, which highlights the plights of the children in Afghanistan, especially girls, under the Talilban regime. 
    Other books being studied for this project include: 
    My Forbidden Face by Latifa - a story of 16 year old female and 
    Zoya's Story by Zoya - a story of 11 year old

  • 'Stories not for texting' - is the next project for Manmela. This is a direct follow on from the workshop which Dominic Rai did in the East end in summer 2001. The theatre output titled - 'Sories not for telling' was a collaborative piece with contributions from lots of young people from that area.

  • Baiju Bawra - currently showing at the Theatre Royal, Stratford (until 13th April). Written by Niraj Chag.
  • The Beautiful Violin - performed in Southampton by the Peshkar Theatre Company from Oldham.
  • Besharam - opens at the Soho Theatre in London on the 10th Oct 2001. Also, performances in Birmingham.
  • Cornershop - this powerful issue based drama has completed a national tour with many successful performances to rave reviews in Scotland and most of England.

    We at Asiangigs wish them every success and another tour - soon on an even bigger scale.
