Much of India's press has taken great interest in the private life of
superstar Salman Khan and especially moreso since his association with
Aishwarya Rai, which has been now written about not only in the film press
but also some of the dailies. His every move is watched and he is living
life under close scrutiny by the press which is reaching abyssmal levels
where any development or meting which occurs between the two is reported and
blown out of proportion to sell a few more copies. Salman's rise to fame has
always been hounded by press attention and they dogged him for many years
trying to portray him in a negative light until things died down when fans
stopped being interested in what the press had concocted every month about
him.
As the entire India press trade tirade against Salman Khan in a similar
style as before continues they are now saying he has been spotted creating a
ruckus outside Ash's door at odd hours and vandalising property in fits of
rage. The reports are becoming more serious as a few fictitious stories
about any one star regularly would affect anyone, and it is a wonder Salman
has remained gracefully silent, not playing up to the press' provoking as
anyone else would be tempted to do. Ash has stuck up for her man saying on
the sets of her new film Devdas with Sanjay Leela Bhansali (of Hum Dil De
Chuke Sanam fame): "My love life seems to have become everybody's pre-occupation these days.
Forget film magazines, even trade papers and newspapers are only interested
in my personal life."
When asked about all the reports of how Salman was arriving at her door at
all hours vandalising and creating a scene, she expressed concern over such
stories and their baseless accusations.
"That entire thing was blown out of proportion. It's sad that genuine
concern has been misconstrued as erratic vandalism. But I guess these things
are a part and parcel of this Industry."
Any press are doubting what she is saying should take heed in how she is
being affected by what is being written, and how reports are simply getting
out of control and out of good taste. She reassures she is happy with her
work and her relationship, mentioning how the only stress she has is from
reading these so-called reports:
"I'm very kicked about Devdas. I have a feeling that it's going to be a good
film. I'm happy that Mohabbatein is doing so well. Professionally, things
are moving well and personally, I'm happy. I'm at ease with everything
around me. I'm an eternal optimist. I always hope for the best. Stress is a
part of life. What makes life worth living is how you cope with stress and
overcome it."
The message is clear: Leave Ash and Salman alone - no
one deserves the inhumane behaviour the Indian press is launching on them.
Heed the early warning signs and stop bringing down a respectable
profession, return to JOURNALism and rid yourself of SENSATIONALism. Gossip
sells but good journalism prevails.
