Well what can I say but "what a night, what a night, what a night" as I am the only person who seems to remember.

Yes I DJ HARRIE (from the Roadshow of the same name) touched base with the boys from an Asian Internet Radio Station for the Gujarat Earthquake Charity Fundraiser Bash, in Birmingham 18th April 2001 as part of BHANGRA WEEK.

So after many years of trying to get into VIP Lounges even from my days at SUNRISE RADIO, I finally got there. So Sameeta Smitten can eat her heart out!!!! MEOW!!!!

The star attraction needs no introduction at all with hits like CHALLA, APNA PUNJAB, PUNJAIYE ZUBANE, MAMLA GARBHAD AND DIL DA MAMLA etc.

If you don't know then I might aswell introduce him, that's my job after all being a DJ. Yes the magnificent GURDASS MAAN!!!!

A truly magnificent night, a whole host of Bhangra Superstars from the Industry including Shin from DCS, LL Cool Singh (original name isn't it!!), Silinder Pardesi from the ONCE Pardesi Music Machine, Balwinder Safri (Safri Boys), Meshi (formally ESHARA), Sardara Gill, Kulwant Bhamra (Apna Group) a whole host of MC'S and a new unsigned upcoming band called BANDOOK SANGEET (Ready to Fire!!!!)

So there's me ready and equipped with a probing microphone ready to chat up all the women in the premises not really!!!! (the kind girlfriend won't like!). If you don't hear from me you know what happened.

Anyway lets get back to the action, it was non-stop all night it was like the MIC was some kind of a band/artist magnet. All the above stars got interviewed by myself and I managed to fill 3 minidiscs of rowdy, drunk stars. Unfortunately the battery in the camera ran out so was unable to get pictures of MR GURDAS MANN.

It was about 9pm and I heard a massive cheer from the main arena it was the man himself, but this time without his famous yellow and black kugara, and bare feet, dressed unusually suited and booted (it don't suit you mate!!!! Get it???? - OK so I don't make a good comedian!!) He spoke to the audience and said "This is a club, and young atmosphere, so I thought I'll wear something more cool!! (how d' ya work that one out mate???) He left the stage at 12 Midnight and a spectacular performance with all his hits old and new.

The other big news I heard from Meshi (Eshara) was that he's about to join XLNC as the lead singer taking over from H S Talwar!!! Watch out for more Bhangra gossip on my site and spread the word.
