Children Of the Partition

2007 sees the 60th year since the Partition of India.

The Partition was an enforced journey undertaken by millions of people never knowing when or if they were ever to return. It is a human tragedy of epic proportions with stories of torture, killing and rape; but also stories of compassion, kindness and hope.

A lifetime on tiptoes.

Manmela Theatre Company are developing a play to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the partition of India in 1947

The play is written in the positive spirit to re-create the Punjabi identity, which suffered the most and was cruelly split as a result of this historical event.

The play will be premiered at the Edinburgh Festival in August 2007.  If you have any stories from 1947 to share or want to find out more details about this project, then click this link.

 

Work or want to work in the film & broadcasting industry?

The fourth Move On Up event on 18 June includes BBC Director General Mark Thompson and PACT Chief Executive John McVay.

The event aims to help to address the continued under-representation of black and minority ethnic (BME) workers in film and broadcasting by facilitating one-to-one meetings for BME professionals with key hirers of staff or freelances or executives who can commission programmes.
