Indian Clasical Dance

The various classical dance forms from India have been adopted by many well known dancers in the west. These dance forms have arisen out of the long texts written by the dance experts centuries ago, and offer so much more to a dance than just movement.

Among the recent notable performing names are Pt. Birju Maharaj, Shobhna Jeyasingha and among the young dancers who have fused the Eastern and Western dance forms to create very effective and pleasing movements is Akram Khan.
