4 The Muzik

The debut album by Mukhtar Sahota is a treat to the ears and has a very refreshing feel to it and deserves to call itself a 'Bhangra' album, unlike so many others out there which lack originality, the 'bhangra vibe' and sometimes even 'music'.

This new album by Mukhtar Sahota is a bold step to bring back the 'music' to the 'Bhangra' scene without resorting to mainstream samples. The album represents Mukhtar's musical influences including Rock, reggae, RnB and of course retaining the 'Desi' to go with all of them! There are very few albums which I have enjoyed every track of. I can confidently say that this is one of them.

The tracks on this album:

Nachna pai gaya
Lovely lyrics and vocals (Pavan). An excellent production with traditional base and modern beats and instruments. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Rang kala
Vocals of Pappi Gill render this song of a lover's desire to have her beloved return to her in the most effective way. The beats and rhythm do full justice to the lyrics.

Ghost Town
Apache Indian and Am'Nico on the vocals.
The definite reggae influence. A bit of advice to the misguided youth of today in typical Apache style. A well produced and well-meaning track.

Gal Lagja
The very distinctive vocals of Shahin Badar make this upbeat track an excellent choice for this album. Additionally, the lyrics for this one come from Master Rakesh.

Jogi
A very modern track with rock influences. Vocals of Jinda match upto anyone in the industry. Another very well produced track. Very traditional Punjabi lyrics to a rock beat - the way to GO!

Mehfil
What a change of pace!
Balwinder Matewalia's vocals bring to the dance floor, the traditional rural image of village life.

Kut the chase
RnB meets desi on this track with vocals by Shortie Phantom. What a delight!

Channi Medley
A selection of some of the most memorable tracks from the golden era of Bhangra in the UK. Songs like 'Asi tera ki chakiya', 'Teri gut da paranda', 'Nach Mundiya', 'Mehndi Mehndi'. It does make you wonder if we are heading in the right direction with the 'Bhangra' albums of today.
