Paulo Mehrmand
Paulo is 14 years old, the youngest in the band. He started playing classical piano when he was 7½.
He wanted to play the electric guitar but his father put him in for piano lessons instead!
When he started secondary school, he formed a band with some friends, and that was when he first started
to play pop music. Playing alongside his older brother, Roberto, he really took interest into playing pop
music. He loves all types of music but specifically likes 'garage'. A couple of years ago, he bought himself
an electric guitar and started guitar lessons, but it didn't live up to his expectations as it wasn't making
quick enough progress, so he got bored and gave up on it !!! Paulo plays the keyboard for all tracks on the CD.
Rob Mehrmand
Roberto, 20 years in age, started playing the Violin when he was 11 years old. He has also been playing the
flamenco guitar for 4 years. He was a member of the London Schools Symphony Orchestra (LSSO) and then joined
the National Youth Orchestra (NYO). He has performed at the Barbican, Royal Albert Hall and many other leading
venues. He started getting involved in POP Music with the violin 2 years ago and found that it's a new and
interesting experience.
He says "One can experiment different sounds using different style; I have a diverse interest in music and
believe that every culture has its own musical beauty." Roberto plays the violin for the tracks on this CD.
Saber Farooqi
Saber, only 19 years old, is essentially a session guitarist and has been working on the local circuits for the
last 3 years. Having taken up the guitar almost 6 years ago, he has 'studied' all forms of music from Classical
to Heavy Metal before finding his niche in Funk and Rock. Describing his own music as a marriage between these
two styles, he has been heavily influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Lenny Kravtiz. Whilst Abz-Salute Bli$$
doesn't seem to fit this mould, Saber's interest has been fuelled by his sheer love of great music. He plays
all the guitars and bass on the CD, whilst providing backing vocals on "Introduction (Maria)" and "Tujhe Dekthe
Hi".
Mehul Vasani
Mehul, 21 years old, is an all-round percussionist who has been in the field for the past 12 years. He is
a keen Tabla player and drummer with both classical and modern training. He particularly enjoys working with
music involving fusion. His work is influenced by the likes of Talvin Singh and groups such as "Outcast".
Abz-Salute Bli$$ fits this style of modern music, because of it's international blend of flavours. Tracks
such as "Deewana Mein Deewana" have a blend of Spanish and Indian sounds in them. As well as playing the Tabla &
Dholak for "Tujhe Dekthe Hi",
Mehul produces the music and Drums on the CD.
Abz Khan
Abz is a very keen musician. His interest in music started from a very young age. He claims his taste in music
was essentially developed from the early stages in his life when he would listen to the songs played in his
mother's car! Now 20 years old, he writes his own music. Though primarily a vocalist, all tracks on the CD were
written, composed and arranged by him too. He has sung in various shows over the past 5-6 years.
. . .though he claims he's been singing in the bathroom all his life !!!
Having been strongly influenced by foreign music (in particular Spanish and Arabic), Abz would like to combine the
best of all tastes in music, while producing the traditional Hindi tracks. He says "Music is a universal language.
Everyone understands good music."
