The renowned Urdu writer SAADAT HASAN MANTO was born in Sambrala in Punjab in 1912. 

Manto's family migrated to Pakistan in the wake of Partition. A prolific writer, he produced over 200 short stories and several plays and essays in a literary and journalistic career spanning more than two decades. 

He was only 43 when he died in Lahore, Pakistan.
